Abuja

$94–$1.4k/mo31–44 Mbps

Abuja is one of the few African capitals where a coworking address reads like a grid reference because the whole city was drawn on paper before a single road was laid. It suits consultants, NGO and development contractors, policy researchers, and founders who sell to government or large institutions and who value wide roads and a slower pace over

Lagos energy. In 2026 it rewards people who already have a reason to be here and a network to plug into more than first-time nomads looking for a scene.

A comfortable nomad month runs roughly $850 to $1,250. Maitama, Asokoro, and Wuse 2 are the premium districts with good apartments from $600 per month and the best restaurant and café options for working lunches and evening wind-downs. Gwarinpa and Jahi offer a practical middle ground with apartments from $188 to $489 per month. Most Abuja landlords want a full year paid upfront so short-term nomads usually end up in serviced short-lets priced above these figures. Budget for that reality before you arrive.

The top coworking spaces in Abuja are Regus at Murjanatu House, 1 Zambezi Crescent in Maitama at $141 per month, the right choice for anyone needing a prestigious address for meetings with embassies, ministries, and international organisations. Regus at 724 Umaru Dikko Street in Jabi at $156 per month suits professionals living around Jabi Lake who want to avoid cross-city commutes during peak hours.

Regus at Tswanya Place, 1st Avenue in Gwarinpa at $126 per month is the most affordable option for remote workers based in that district. theBUNKer on Atbara Street in Wuse 2 and Seedhub on Embu Street in Wuse 2 with 24/7 access and 24-hour power are both worth contacting directly for current monthly rates. The coworking community in Abuja is smaller and more professional than Lagos but the connections you make here tend to go directly to government and institutional decision makers.

WiFi benchmarks at 31 Mbps fixed broadband and 44 Mbps mobile nationally. Most serious coworking spaces run dedicated fibre lines that outperform the national median but always test the speed on arrival before committing to a monthly plan. Power is the real test. Ask any space how many hours a day it runs on generator or inverter before committing. Abuja has a more reliable power supply than Lagos but outages still happen and Band A premium tariff failures have left entire districts without grid electricity for days. Never assume backup power. Ask first.

Safety is something most platforms leave out entirely. In April 2026 the US government allowed non-emergency embassy staff to leave Abuja citing a deteriorating security situation and the UK updated its travel advice covering parts of the FCT in August 2026. Check both the US State Department and UK Foreign Office travel advisories before booking and confirm your travel insurance still covers you. This is not a reason to avoid Abuja. It is information you need to make a smart decision.

Nigeria replaced visa on arrival with a mandatory e-Visa in May 2025. The tourism e-Visa allows a single entry of 30 days and cannot be extended. ECOWAS citizens enter visa-free. Nigeria has no digital nomad visa.

Remote workers typically enter on the tourism e-Visa and ensure their income comes from outside Nigeria to avoid local tax obligations.
